Jessica & Ilhan ~ Turkish Charm at The State Room

Let’s face it.

Any couple that has a hankering for color & texture at their wedding is a couple after our own hearts.  Imagine our excitement when we booked Jessica & Ilhan’s Turkish inspired wedding over the summer. They were by no means afraid of rich color and we could not have been more delighted.

Seriously, how cute is dad?

Their tones of regal blue, red, green, and burgundy were so fun to work with, never mind the accents of Gold.  In some ways we had an unfair advantage in that many of the decorative items were brought in directly from Turkey.  A few days of Bazaar shopping (by the couple) yielded Turkish lanterns and table numbers that truly customized their decor.  Bar none, these tables flowers were our absolute favorite of the season.

For the ceremony we wanted it to feel as though lush florals were overflowing all around them.  A beautiful backdrop of gold candelabras, lanterns, and floral arrangements set the stage without being too obtrusive or blocking the majestic view that everyone present got to enjoy.

And we’d be remiss if we didn’t emphasize just how much lighting finished the look, augmenting the design work in a way that candle light alone simply could not.  Our friends at Design Light nailed it (as per the usual!) with pin spotting and methodically placed uplighting.  We can’t stress enough the importance of incorporating event lighting into ones decor plan - it’s an absolute must.

We’ll always look back at this wedding with fond memories.  The only thing more beautiful than the decorative work was the couple themselves - two of the kindest individuals we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.  So many well wishes to them both - your big day will never be forgotten.

Special thanks to Lena Mirisola Photography for capturing the night so beautifully.  It was our pleasure to work with you!
